How is Pocahontas Parkway funded?

Pocahontas Parkway receives no state or federal financial support and is solely dependent on toll revenues for all operational, maintenance, safety and financing costs.

Why are the tolls increasing on Pocahontas Parkway?

Tolls may be increased in accordance with the Concession Agreement between VDOT and Pocahontas Parkway, which allows a provision to adjust tolls to cover the operational and maintenance costs and risks.

How are the toll fees collected on Pocahontas Parkway used?

Fees are dedicated to both maintenance and operation of the road, including snow removal and motorist assistance in case of a traffic accident. Tolls are also used to fund future repaving projects and other upgrades, so we can always ensure a safe and smooth trip on Pocahontas Parkway.

What advantages does Pocahontas Parkway offer commuters in the Richmond area?

Pocahontas Parkway provides the fastest, most reliable connection between the southwest and western portions of Greater Richmond to the eastern portions of the region. It also provides a fast connection with I-64 and I-295 and it’s the fastest route to Richmond International Airport for those coming from Southside Richmond, Chesterfield County and other southern originations.

Pocahontas Parkway is also the best alternative for commuters and commercial drivers seeking to bypass the rush hour traffic and holiday travel congestion typically experienced on the I-95 and I-64 approaches to downtown Richmond.

Does Pocahontas Parkway use these toll fees to support the community?

Yes, Pocahontas Parkway is an avid supporter of the communities it serves. Pocahontas Parkway recently donated to several Virginia-based organizations, reaffirming its commitment to community support. DRIVE SMART Virginia (DSV), Feed More, and Liberation Veteran Services (LVS) will each receive donations from Pocahontas Parkway to further support veterans, promote safe driving, and enhance well-being across Virginia.
