How is Pocahontas Parkway funded?
Pocahontas Parkway receives no state or federal financial support and is solely dependent on toll revenues for all operational, maintenance, safety and financing costs.

Why are the tolls increasing on Pocahontas Parkway?
Tolls may be increased in accordance with the Concession Agreement between VDOT and Pocahontas Parkway, which allows a provision to adjust tolls to cover the operational and maintenance costs.

How are the toll fees collected on Pocahontas Parkway used?
Fees are dedicated to both maintenance and operation of the road, including snow removal and motorist assistance in case of a traffic accident. Tolls are also used to fund future repaving projects so we can always ensure a safe and smooth trip on Pocahontas Parkway.

Have there been any improvements to the road or the services that Pocahontas Parkway provides?
Over the past years, Pocahontas Parkway carried out a complete renovation of the pavement on the main travel lanes as well as the Airport Connector. Pocahontas Parkway has also invested in new technology to provide secure, accountable alternatives for customers to easily pay at both the manual toll lanes and at the ramps. These recently implemented improvements allow customers to easily use either cash or credit cards to pay tolls wherever they enter Pocahontas Parkway.
In addition, Pocahontas Parkway performs proactive routine maintenance on the Vietnam Veterans Bridge over I-95 as well as overpasses and bridges associated with Pocahontas Parkway.
Pocahontas Parkway also provides winter maintenance and prompt snow removal services to ensure safe travel during winter months.

What advantages does Pocahontas Parkway offer commuters in the Richmond area?
Pocahontas Parkway provides the fastest, most reliable connection between the southwest and western portions of Greater Richmond to the eastern portions of the region. It also provides a fast connection with I-64 and I-295 and it’s the fastest route to Richmond International Airport for those coming from Southside Richmond, Chesterfield County and other southern originations.

Pocahontas Parkway is also the best alternative for commuters and commercial drivers looking to avoid rush hour traffic and holiday travel congestion that typically occurs on the I-95 and I-64 approach to downtown Richmond.

Does Pocahontas Parkway use these toll fees to support the community?

Yes, Pocahontas Parkway is an avid supporter of the communities it serves. Pocahontas Parkway recently provided a $20,000 grant to Communities in Schools of Richmond to provide direct emergency food assistance to students and families in crisis throughout eastern Henrico County and to celebrate its 20th anniversary of service to Greater Richmond, Pocahontas Parkway provided $60,000 in grants to several local non-profit organizations, including Feed More, Liberation Veteran Services, and DRIVE SMART Virginia.
