Scheduled toll rates increase effective on April 1, 2022

You might have gotten the news that Pocahontas Parkway’s tolls will increase this year.
Customers with two-axle vehicles traveling the Main Toll Plaza now pay $5.20 and the Laburnum and Airport Connector tolls will rise to $3. Vehicles with additional axles also require an additional surcharge.

As a reminder, Pocahontas Parkway doesn’t receive state or federal financial support and fully relies on collected fees to fund snow removal, motorist assistance in case of an accident, and future repaving projects. With more than six million vehicles annually traveling our 8.8-mile toll road crossing the James River, we continuously strive to make both smart and strategic improvements so that travelers can have the safest and simplest commute.
Tolls are payable with E-ZPass  or with Visa, Discover, American Express, or Mastercard credit and debit cards. Cash is accepted in all full-service lanes at the main toll plaza and both Laburnum and Airport exits and entrances. Mobile tolling apps such as Slora and GoToll are also accepted.

Pocahontas Parkway is operated by privately held Pocahontas Parkway Operations, LLC, under an agreement with the Virginia Department of Transportation and is managed by Globalvia.

What do I do if I have a problem with my payment?

If you miss a toll or cannot pay at the time of your travel, please wait at least 48 hours and then you can use the “miss a toll” tool on our website at pocahontas895.com. You can also call our
office at (804) 822-3458 (or toll-free at 1-866-428-6339). Please be aware that our office is not a call center, so if you’re prompted, please leave your name and phone number on the voicemail, and we will call you back as soon as possible, usually by the next business day. You can also
email us at info@pocahontas895.com. Please have your vehicle license plate number and the state of issue with you when you call or include the plate number in your email. We are happy to assist you.

How is Pocahontas Parkway funded?

Pocahontas Parkway receives no state or federal financial support and is solely dependent on toll revenues for all operational, maintenance, safety and financing costs.

Why are the tolls increasing on Pocahontas Parkway?

Tolls may be increased in accordance with the Concession Agreement between VDOT and Pocahontas Parkway, which allows a provision to adjust tolls to cover the operational and maintenance costs.

How are the toll fees collected on Pocahontas Parkway used?

Fees are dedicated to both maintenance and operation of the road, including snow removal and motorist assistance in case of a traffic accident. Tolls are also used to fund future repaving projects so we can always ensure a safe and smooth trip on Pocahontas Parkway.

Have there been any improvements to the road or the services that Pocahontas Parkway provides?

Over the past years, Pocahontas Parkway carried out a complete renovation of the pavement on the main travel lanes as well as the Airport Connector. Pocahontas Parkway has also invested in new technology to provide secure, accountable alternatives for customers to easily pay at both the manual toll lanes and at the ramps. These recently implemented improvements allow customers to easily use either cash or credit cards to pay tolls wherever they enter Pocahontas Parkway.

In addition, Pocahontas Parkway performs proactive routine maintenance on the Vietnam Veterans Bridge over I-95 as well as overpasses and bridges associated with Pocahontas Parkway.

Pocahontas Parkway also provides winter maintenance and prompt snow removal services to ensure safe travel during winter months.

What advantages does Pocahontas Parkway offer commuters in the Richmond area?

Pocahontas Parkway provides the fastest, most reliable connection between the southwest and western portions of Greater Richmond to the eastern portions of the region.
