Using Pocahontas 895

Pocahontas 895 is easy to use! We offer great time savings and convenience, and help get you to your destination quickly and with little congestion. In particular, Pocahontas 895 offers an efficient route to Richmond International Airport from Chesterfield County, Petersburg, or other communities south and west of Richmond. You can count on Pocahontas 895 for a smooth and reliable drive.

You can access Pocahontas 895 at Chippenham Parkway/Route 150 near Interstate 95, or from Interstate 295 at Exit 25. You also can get on at Laburnum Avenue near Route 5, or via our new Airport Connector road at Charles City Road just south of Richmond International Airport (RIC). Watch for signs directing you to 895. The maps below will help you find the most convenient route.

There are three toll points: at the Mainline plaza at the east end of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge over the James River; at the eastside Laburnum Avenue ramps; and at the eastside Airport Connector ramps. It's important to remember that you only pay a toll once on Pocahontas 895; anyone who pays at the Main Toll Plaza does not pay again to use one of the exit ramps. Only those traveling between Laburnum Avenue and I-295, or Richmond International Airport and I-295, pay a toll at those ramps.

The easiest way to pay the toll is through E-ZPass™. Using your E-Z Pass™, the payment is deducted automatically from your account on the open toll lanes, through the manual cash lanes at the Main Plaza, or at the Laburnum or Airport Connector ramps. All of our toll points also accept Visa and Mastercard credit/debit cards for your convenience. The Main Toll Booth also accepts cash between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily.

Be aware that our Laburnum and Airport Connector toll points are unmanned, with E-ZPass™ toll collection or automated credit/debit collection.

Following are directions to and from various key points around Richmond using Pocahontas 895:

From Chesterfield County & Chippenham Parkway (Route 150) to Eastern Henrico County

(Sample starting points and destinations: Stony Point Mall to Richmond International Raceway (RIR) or Charter Colony in Midlothian to the Plantations)

Take Chippenham Parkway South to the Interstate 95 interchange.
Using either of the left two lanes, continue directly onto Pocahontas 895 East.
After the toll plaza, Pocahontas 895 offers interchanges at Laburnum Avenue (near Route 5), Airport Drive (Exit 3), and Interstate 295.

From Chippenham Parkway (Route 150) to Richmond International Airport

(Sample starting points and destinations: Chesterfield or South Richmond to Richmond International Airport)

Take Chippenham Parkway South to the Interstate 95 interchange. Using either of the left two lanes, continue directly onto Pocahontas 895 East.
After the toll plaza, follow signs to the airport and take the new Airport Connector road (Airport Drive, Exit 3). This convenient new route leads directly into the heart of Richmond International Airport at Charles City Road and Airport Drive.

From Interstate 95 Southbound to Eastern Henrico County

(Sample starting points and destinations: Downtown or Philip Morris to Richmond International Airport)

There is no ramp directly from Interstate 95 South to Pocahontas 895.
To access Pocahontas 895, take Interstate 95 to Exit 67 (Chippenham Parkway North, Route 150).
Stay in the left lane of the on-ramp as it merges with Route 150. After approximately one-fourth of a mile, take the Route 1 South Exit.
Stay in the right lane of the off-ramp and then take the exit for Pocahontas 895 East.
Quickly merge into the far left two lanes, and then continue directly onto Pocahontas 895.
After the toll plaza, Pocahontas 895 offers interchanges at Laburnum Avenue (near Route 5), Airport Drive (Exit 3), and Interstate 295.

From Interstate 95 Northbound to Eastern Henrico County

(Sample starting points and destinations: Colonial Heights to Richmond International Airport or Petersburg to Richmond International Raceway (RIR) )

After the Willis Road interchange, stay in the right lane and take Exit 67A onto Pocahontas 895 East (This exit is located just before the exit to Chippenham Parkway, Exit 67B).
After the toll plaza, Pocahontas 895 offers interchanges at Laburnum Avenue (near Route 5), Airport Drive (Exit 3), and Interstate 295.

From Interstate 64 and Points North and East of Interstate 295 to Chesterfield County

(Sample starting points and destinations: Western Henrico to Varina or Varina to Chesterfield Towne Center)

Take Interstate 295 South to the interchange for Pocahontas 895 West (Exit 25).
Continue on Pocahontas 895 through the toll plaza.
When crossing the James River, stay in the right lane for the exit onto Interstate 95, or stay in the middle or left lane to continue onto Chippenham Parkway (Route 150).

From Points South and East of Interstate 295 to Chesterfield County

Take Interstate 295 North to Pocahontas 895 West (Exit 25).
Continue on Pocahontas 895 through the toll plaza.
When crossing the James River, stay in the right lane for the exit onto Interstate 95, or stay in the middle or left lane to continue onto Chippenham Parkway (Route 150).

From Laburnum Avenue to Chesterfield County

(Sample starting points and destinations: Richmond International Raceway (RIR) to Midlothian or White Oaks Shopping Village to Chesterfield/South Richmond)

Travel south on Laburnum Avenue to the Route 5 intersection.
At the traffic light, continue straight on Laburnum Avenue.
Follow Laburnum to the interchange for Pocahontas 895 West.
Continue on Pocahontas 895 through the toll plaza.
When crossing the James River, stay in the right lane for the exit onto Interstate 95, or stay in the middle or left lane to continue onto Chippenham Parkway (Route 150).

From Richmond International Airport to Chesterfield County

(Richmond International Airport to Midlothian or Richmond International Airport to Chesterfield)

Travel south on Airport Drive, following signs to Pocahontas 895.
At the end of Airport Drive, continue straight onto the Airport Connector, which is a continuation of Airport Drive.
Follow the Airport Connector until it intersects with Pocahontas 895. Watch the signs and take the westbound ramp toward Chesterfield.
Continue on Pocahontas 895 through the Main Toll Plaza.
When crossing the James River, stay in the right lane for the exit onto Interstate 95, or stay in the middle or left lane to continue onto Chippenham Parkway (Route 150).
